Finally, McDonald’s is Coming to Chennai!
Saturday, March 1, 2008
The first McDonald’s in Chennai would be opening in Food Court in Ascendas in Taramani. Incidentally, Ascendas was the place where KFC was opened for the first time in Chennai! It’s time for the burger major to put up a competition to Marrybrown’s and KFC. The proposed one at Ampa mall would take some more time due to the delay in opening the mall.
In the above snaps, you may see the furnishings being done beside the banner.
It’d be a welcome change for the KFC regulars and will give a stiff competition to low key players like Marrybrown and Prime Roaster whose quality has been on a steady decline. Some more are expected to come by 2010 as the construction companies come closer to the completion of the 20 odd malls in Chennai.
Update: McDonald’s was opened on April 2nd in ITPC Ascendas, Chennai. The first veg burger was sold for 4 lakhs! The money was donated to a non-profit organization called Banyan in Chennai. Ever since it opened, the crowd is filling up the aisles like the buses in Chennai at peak hours
Poor KFC has some visitors to carry on their business.
