A Logo Design Assignment And Designing Process

We’re given an assignment to create a logo after choosing an object. The logo has to be developed for an imaginary brand. We’ve to simplify the object and fit it into the brand’s philosophy and make it useful as a logo. I chose ‘Spear’ as my basic object.

I generated 24 thumbnails of different logos with various concepts and with the spear as the main representation. The logo which was finalized at last was the following one. I loved the color combination.

I named the brand as ‘Spearhead’ meaning someone who leads or initiates an activity. The concept description is as follows…

“An ancient spear is chosen to show the importance of a spear right from the beginning of the mankind. The spear is shown in black so as to stand out as the brand name ‘Spearhead’ points to the image.

The shades of yellow color are chosen to depict the colors of sunset. It seems as though the ripples behind the spear are emanating from the tip of the spear. That symbolizes the spear as sun which means power and the source of energy. More than a weapon, a spear is a symbol for power which is often wielded by Gods. The sunset colors depict changing time. It’s time for new things and better outcome.”
